Microsoft Access is a powerful relational database tool that lets you store, organize, and query large volumes of data without a dedicated database server. SkillForge's live Access training courses take you from the fundamentals of database design through advanced queries, forms, reports, and VBA automation.
What our Access courses cover: Introduction courses cover database concepts, creating and linking tables, building queries (select, update, append, delete), designing forms for data entry, and generating reports. Advanced courses tackle complex multi-table queries, subqueries, parameter queries, advanced form controls, report grouping and calculations, and macro automation. Our VBA course teaches you to write code that automates database operations, validates data, and builds custom application interfaces.
All courses are taught live by expert instructors in small groups, with hands-on exercises using real database scenarios. Available as public online sessions or private on-site training.
3 courses available — all taught live by expert instructors.
In this Microsoft Access Advanced Training Course, students will learn advanced Microsoft Access skills such as how to secure and manage a database, how to design advanced forms and how to split an Access database for a multi-user environment, utilizing a front-end and back-end database. Students will also see how to use Macros in Microsoft Access to automate common tasks and will get an introduction to using VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) to take their automation skills to the next level. This class also covers how to secure an Access Database and prepares Access Power Users to be able to develop full-scale applications.
In this Microsoft Access Introduction Training course, you'll see how to use Access to create databases to store and manage data. This course assumes little to no previous experience with Microsoft Access, so you'll start with creating a database from scratch. You'll see how to properly plan and design your database so that it runs efficiently and can be easily modified in the future. You'll learn about all of the main Microsoft Access Objects: Tables, Forms, Queries and Reports and will see how to create basic and advanced versions of each. Throughout this course you will perform hands-on exercises to create and extend a database with multiple Tables, Queries, Forms and Reports and you'll come away with an understanding of the role of each of these objects in a full-blown Microsoft Access database application. If you've inherited a database from a former co-worker or are just struggling to create a database of your own, this course is essential in understanding how Microsoft Access works and how you can use it to create applications to automate your business in just a matter of hours or days.
In this Microsoft Access VBA Training course, students will learn how to use the VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) programming language to automate their database applications. They will learn about creating Sub Procedures and Functions and see how to call these blocks of code from an event occurring in Microsoft Access, such as a button being clicked or a user saving a record. Students will be introduced to the Microsoft Access Object Model, which will allow them to control all aspects of the application, including things like closing or opening forms, printing reports or validating user data entry. Students will also be introduced to accessing data in the database through code by using Data Access Objects (DAO,) allowing the manipulation of data behind the scenes - with no user action needed. Finally, students will see how to debug their code and add error handling to ensure that unexpected errors don't force an application shutdown. Although a programming environment, VBA is fun and easy to learn - even for students who have no programming experience!
